Lucy & Mark’s Potters Marston Wedding

Leicestershire Wedding Photography | Lucy & Mark’s Potters Marston Wedding

It’s not often that I share weddings on the blog, simply because I’m so busy shooting them and don’t get time to write about them.  Lucy & Mark’s wedding was so beautiful and unique that I just had to share!

Potters Marston is a tiny village in Leicestershire, with an even tinier chapel at just 38 feet long and I now hold the unique honour of being the wedding photographer of the first ever wedding at one of the smallest churches in the county! The chapel actually dates back to the 15th century but it seems that Lucy & Mark are the first couple to actually get married there.

The chapel is in the grounds of Lucy’s parents’ home and the reception was held in a gorgeous marquee provided by Covertec Structures. Flowers By Stephanie did an amazing job (as I’m sure you’ll see from the photos) of decorating everywhere with flowers and creating the beautiful bouquets for Lucy and her bridesmaids,  her floral decor was just perfect for a wedding in such a rural location.

As you can see the weather was just perfect, the wedding was beautiful and the day was relaxed and full of fun and love. These are my absolute favourite sorts of weddings, perfectly suited to my style of wedding photography which is informal and relaxed, capturing the story of the day as it unfolds. I also love to create beautiful portraits of the bride and groom on their big day and what could be better than having a field of golden wheat and perfect light, ideal for Lucy and Mark to take a little quiet time together after the wedding breakfast.

I hope you enjoy the photos and if you are planning your own Leicestershire wedding and would like to have a chat about wedding photography why not give me a call on 01455 233224.

Dodford Manor Wedding Photography

I don’t have time to blog many shoots these days, but I am going to try and be a bit more efficient (I keep saying that I must blog more regularly and just don’t have the time to get around to is)…  But I thought it would be great to showcase Becky and Ryan’s fabulous wedding photography at Dodford Manor in Northamptonshire.

Dodford Manor is a beautifully restored oak barn and you can see the rolling countryside for miles around.  It’s perfect…  Becky is from Leicestershire and Ryan is from Yorkshire, although they both currently live and work in Essex.  So, of course, it was common sense to get their family and friends to meet in the middle.

They had a fabulous London Underground theme to their wedding day and most of their details were carefully put together by Becky and her super talented, creative family.

The joining together of the northern crowd from Ryan’s side of the family and Becky’s Leicestershire family, alongside their London friends too, made for pretty hilarious antics, lots of noise, and so much love in the room.  And for the first time I witnessed a ‘host a roast’.  What a fantastic idea.  A male guest on each of the tables was responsible for carving the beef served at the wedding breakfast.  A chef’s hat and apron were provided and lots of laughs.  Loved it!    I really enjoyed capturing photographs of this amazing wedding day, and it was so great to see Becky’s family again as I photographed her brother’s wedding 5 years ago at Shearsby Bath in Leicestershire.   Familiar faces everywhere.  Perfect!   Always helps when the wedding party are all a bit nuts… and I always feel so at ease with a northern crowd.

If you have yet to book your Dodford Manor Wedding Photography, please don’t hesitate to get in touch by calling 01455 233224 and I will be happy to chat to you about your wedding day.

               Perfect!

Wedding Photography Kilworth House

Are you getting married at Kilworth House in Leicestershire?  Have you found your wedding photographer yet?  This is a wedding I photographed in September 2013.  Kathryn and Lee live in London, however Lee is originally from Leicestershire.  Lee’s parents initially visited this fabulous hotel and as soon as Kathryn and Lee saw it, they just knew they wanted to have their wedding day here.  It is a truly beautiful wedding venue.  It has it all.  Stunning bedrooms, an amazing staircase, the beautiful orangery and stunning grounds too.  Add to that, some fabulous weather, an easy going, fun, bride and groom and a bridal party who were up for having some fun and you get this.  Take a look at a selection of wedding photographs from this lovely wedding day and you can’t fail to smile.  If you would like to have an informal chat about your wedding day photography, please don’t hesitate to call me – Lesley Bee on 01455 233224.  Alternatively, you can email me at info@lesleybee.co.uk or use the contact form on my website.  I can photograph weddings in Leicestershire and the midlands, as well as the north west, as I spend a lot of time there during the Summer months.  For 2014 I will only be photographing a small number of weddings as I will be focussing more on the portrait side of my business.

Wedding Photography Shearsby Bath

I love Shearsby Bath…  It’s a venue that’s not too far from me (always a bonus) and it’s a venue that I have photographed at many times, so it’s nice to photograph a wedding and already be familiar with the venue.  Clare and Dennis are just total sweethearts.  Dennis has to have the smiliest face ever and Clare is so low key, but elegant at the same time.    It was a fabulous wedding day and lots of fun.   A few characters as usual, especially Clare’s sister – ‘batty’ comes to mind but great company.   And Clare’s nephew was such a sweetheart and we had a little ‘one on one’ photography tutorial during the day.  I think he might be a little bit into photography now…   It’s always lovely to keep in touch with couples after their wedding days and Clare and Dennis exchange tweets with me from time to time and I am hoping to hear the ‘pitter patter’ of tiny feet at some stage?

Mr and Mrs Spiers – BEE happy!  xxx

Wedding Photography Farndon Grange Leicestershire

I photographed Emma and Will’s wedding in June last year.  Emma is originally from Leicestershire but at the time when she contacted me they were both living in London.  They were married at St Peter and St Paul’s Church in Great Bowden, followed by their reception at Farndon Grange.  Farndon Grange is not a typical wedding venue, it’s actually a beautiful bed and breakfast in East Farndon near Market Harborough.   However, you can hire the gar dents for parties, wedding receptions and special occasions.  This is exactly what Emma and Will did, and Emma’s dad spent weeks making it look extra special for their wedding day.  Once again, the weather was very kind to us.  Emma and Will requested very relaxed, story telling photography and their list of group photographs with family etc was kept to the minimum.  Instead they wanted to enjoy the amazing grounds of Farndon Grange and have as much time as possible with family and friends on their wedding day.  I often have couples tell me that they didn’t manage to speak to all of their guests on the day of the wedding.  My advice?  Keep your formal photographs to a minimum.  Have a full wedding party photograph featuring the new Mr and Mrs with all of your guests.  Then focus on immediate family for your group shots.  This gives you more free time to actually enjoy your wedding day.  And this is exactly what Will and Emma did.  It also gave me more time to capture more natural, story telling photographs of their wedding day.

Emma and Will are now expecting twins and have since moved up to Harrogate so they have had a very busy year.  Best wishes Mr and Mrs Cousins… xxx

Wedding Photography Nottinghamshire Golf Club

When I think back to this wedding at Nottinghamshire Golf and Country Club all I think of is colour, noise and kids… lots of kids! Most of the kids were being hung upside down by the groomsmen and male guests, just to keep them under control a bit. I also think of what great fun the bridal party were. Full of antics, and daftness, and wouldn’t do as they were told most of the time… but I do like a challenge. We had such a mixed bag of weather for this wedding. Sunshine followed by showers, followed by more sunshine and more showers. But luckily we had lots of opportunities in between to get outside for some fun photography. Emma and Lee have the two most gorgeous children and the wedding day was very much a family day with kids at the heart of this celebration. A Joy… Great fun! Great memories.

Wedding Photography Guild Hall Leicester

Another fantastic, fun wedding day with amazing weather. Clare contacted me after reading the ‘about me’ section on my website explaining that we had a few things in common, being similar ages, both having 2 daughters and she had been planning her wedding day but wanted this to be a fun day, with minimal formalities, apart from the paperwork! Clare and Scott had already been together a very long time and have two beautiful daughters. Similar to Mr Bee and I. Together 21 years but married for just 8. Clare and Scott’s wedding was a long time coming, just like mine! I suppose life just gets in the way especially when you have children. I absolutely loved the laid back, party feel to this day. And I do think that Clare has to be one of the ‘nuttiest’ brides I have photographed. Check out the fabulous dress and shoes… Very Clare! Mr and Mrs Monan… wishing you a lifetime of happiness to you and your beautiful daughters.

The wedding ceremony was held at the Guildhall Leicester, followed by a reception at Hotel Maiyango  xx

Wedding Photography Coombe Abbey

I’m doing really well catching up on a bit of blogging… I had no time in 2013 to blog about most of the weddings I photographed. And so here I am in January 2014, getting up to speed. Alex and Kevin were married at Coombe Abbey in May last year. I am so delighted when I get to photograph a wedding on recommendation. I photographed Kevin’s brothers wedding in 2012, so it was lovely to have Kevin and Alex come to me and book me for their wedding too. And, it’s also fun to see familiar faces again. It was a beautiful wedding at an amazing venue, with perfect May weather, and I was made to feel so very welcome by everybody. Mr and Mrs Hayes – Thank You! BEE happy…

Wedding Photography Shearsby Bath, Leicestershire

I have photographed a lot of weddings at Shearsby Bath and it’s a great venue with very lovely staff and I have always been made very welcome here. Marie and Nathan chose Shearsby Bath for their wedding venue and they were not disappointed. Added bonus? We were also very blessed with fabulous weather. My favourite time of day during a wedding is just after the wedding breakfast. The formalities are all over, the couple have made their vows, the formal group shots are done and the speeches are ‘in the bag’. Everyone can heave a big sigh and fully relax and really enjoy the rest of the wedding day. It’s like being at a different wedding with different guests later in the day. I always take the opportunity after the wedding breakfast to take some relaxed and fun photographs. This lovely couple and their wedding party obliged and we had great fun capturing some laughter and silliness just before the sun went down. If you would like to talk to me about your wedding day photography requirements, please don’t hesitate to call me on 01455 233224. If you would just like to have an informal chat, I am happy to meet with you to discuss your wedding day in more detail. In the meantime, enjoy the fun and laughter of this fabulous wedding day.
Mr and Mrs Joel – keep in touch. Keep smiling and bring your babies in for a family photo shoot! xx

Wedding Photography Scalford Hall Leicestershire

Are you getting married and looking for a wedding photographer for your wedding day at Scalford Hall. Are you looking for a relaxed, fun style of photography for your wedding day? Would you prefer not to have ‘staged’ wedding photographs and for your photography not to take over your whole wedding day? This is a wedding I photographed in July 2013 for the lovely Jayne and Louis. It was a total pleasure to be a part of this fabulous wedding day, and this has to be one of the noisiest weddings I have ever photographed. So much laughter and mischief going on all day long – misbehaving guests photo-bombing the photographs and generally being very naughty, along with raucous laughter and so many tears of pure joy. Jayne was probably the most emotional bride I’ve photographed.
Mr and Mrs White – wishing you a lifetime of continued laughter and mischief…

Kilworth House Wedding Photography

I have had absolutely no time whatsoever to blog all of the amazing weddings I have photographed this year…  I could do with an assistant (if only I could afford this luxury).  So, I am going to make an effort to blog some images from weddings during 2013.  I am currently working on an album from a wedding in September at Kilworth House.  This venue is absolutely stunning, inside and out.  And Lee and Kathryn were a fabulous couple to work with.  Theirs was a Friday 13th 2013 wedding… however ‘unlucky for some’ number 13 didn’t bother these two in the slightest.  It was a truly amazing day at Kilworth House.  The weather was beautiful, the couple were relaxed, fun and easy to work with and their family and friends made me so welcome on their special day.  If you are still to find your wedding photographer for your wedding day at Kilworth House, please call me, Lesley Bee on 01455 233224 or send a message via the contact page on this website.

The wedding of Will and Emma at Farndon Grange

Another totally lovely wedding day with Will and Emma, and their family and friends.  Will and Emma both live in London, but Emma is originally from Leicestershire and so this was obviously where she wanted to be married.  I met with both of them a  couple of times before their wedding day – firstly for an initial consultation and then a follow up meeting at the venue to discuss all the finer details, timings, special requests etc.  I knew straight away that we would get on just great… And we did!    The ceremony took place at the very pretty ‘St Peter and St Paul Church, in Great Bowden, followed by an amazing reception at Farndon Grange.   Will and Emma hired out the whole of this lovely house and the grounds and made it ‘home’ for a whole weekend.  A beautiful marquee, fabulous food and perfect weather.  And all totally individual to them.  Emma’s dad spent many weekends before the wedding day, mowing the grounds and making it look so beautiful for his daughter’s wedding day.    Just a few selected images from their day…

The wedding of Emma and Lee at Nottinghamshire Golf and Country Club

So, day 2 of trying to blog more often…  Here goes.  Another fantastic wedding full of kids and crazy guests and so, so colourful.  Emma and Lee were married at Nottinghamshire Golf and Country Club and the weather was bright but cool with a few showers throughout the day which thankfully we managed to dodge .  A totally fantastic set of groomsmen always helps and I always get great joy in witnessing 2 sides to the groomsmen, the nervous, slightly  reserved guys that you meet before the ceremony, followed by the  relaxed, slightly crazy guys that you have to handle later in the day when the speeches have been done and a few beers been consumed.  This is when I get my best shots of the day.  It is so much fun working with the bridal party and guests later in the day when the party gets started….    Again, I have only pulled out just a few images as I don’t have the time currently to blog the whole wedding.   But again, another fabulous couple and a wedding I won’t forget!  BEE happy Mr and Mrs Fletcher.

Image captured in between showers!

Fun, fun, fun – as mentioned later in the day is always the best time to capture the fun moments of a wedding day.  Food eaten, champagne consumed, speeches and formalities completed…  Let’s party!

I love capturing kids at weddings.  What is it about little kiddies just loving rolling around the floor at parties?   I wish I was little again.

So, the solution to sorting out noisy, energetic kiddies is this…  🙂

The big kids are just as much trouble though…  especially boys!  Thanks Lee and your groomsmen for ‘striking a pose’ for me…  Love it.

If you are getting married at Nottinghamshire Golf and Country Club and haven’t found your photographer yet, please feel free to call me, Lesley Bee on 01455 233224  or email me at lesley.bee@btconnect.com

We can meet for an informal, no obligation chat about your wedding day photography.

Wedding Photography Scalford Hall by Lesley Bee Photography in Leicestershire

I am a bit embarrassed to admit, that I have not been updating my blog – in fact I have not had time to post on here since March.  I am literally drowning at the moment and have had so many wedding and portrait bookings this year, all so close together, that I have not had time to blog each individual wedding or some of my portraits sessions.  I really could do with somebody to do this for me, so I’ve decided to compromise and not blog a whole series of images from a particular wedding, but to update my blog with perhaps just one ‘WOW’ image or a a small selection and try to do this daily… And keep on top of my blog using this technique instead.    In the past it has taken me hours to blog a wedding and it’s time I just don’t have at the moment.  I have even put a reminder on my calendar to do this every single day that I am in the studio (yeah right).  So here goes…  Let’s see how long this lasts and if I can keep up every day, or at least a few times each week I will be very proud of myself!  If you need for leicester wedding photography, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

So, here are just a few images from Jayne and Louis’s wedding at Scalford Hall in Melton Mowbray.     I don’t think I have ever been at a wedding whereby there was so much laughing… and so much ‘happy’ noise!  Here goes…

This is the fabulous car that is owned by Louis’s dad… How amazing that they were able to use a car that is so personal to them… And of course it’s an amazing car (but don’t ask me what it is…???)

Jayne was certainly going to get her money’s worth out of her veil, so we did a lot of swishing, twirling and general floaty stuff to capture some of these images.  In fact Jayne approached me many times during her wedding day saying ‘Lesley, can we do more photographs of me swishing my veil?’ – and I was very happy to oblige 🙂

Having fun with the bridal party is my top priority at each and every wedding – and if the team is up for some fun, then I am too.  Obviously I cover off the more formal group shots of the bride, groom and their ushers, bridesmaids, best man and not forgetting any flower girls and pageboys…  But I always ensure we have some fun too!   This may be after the wedding breakfast when everyone is totally relaxed, perhaps a bit squiffy from too much champagne and ready to go crazy.  Love this shot below.  Thank you bridal party for your sense of fun and craziness.

For some reason there was a lot of ‘photo bombing’ going on at this wedding (perhaps there was some sort of competition going on).  But hey!  If I can capture a moment like this, then bring it on!  This is the bride’s father after a few too many beers I think!

And here she goes again, ‘swishing’ and twirling and generally getting the most out of her amazing veil… Go Jayne!  You’re a superstar xxx

If you are getting married at Scalford Hall and you haven’t found your wedding photographer yet then please call me on 01455 233224 to discuss your wedding day photography requirements and we can arrange an informal chat and talk WEDDINGS.. I love it!

Wedding Photography Leicester

The lovely Rachael and Luke were married on 22nd March and I thoroughly enjoyed being a part of this fantastic wedding day.  Laughter, noise and very bad weather but totally joyous and fun every second of the day.

The Venues:  St Peter & St Paul RC Church, Earl Shilton and Heart of England Events Centre

Flowers:  Tulips Florist, Hinckley

Stand out Moments

A snow storm

This was the first day of a snow storm in Leicestershire which started as a flurry early afternoon and didn’t stop all day.   And yet Rachael and Mark were all smiles throughout their wedding day.  Rachael especially was not going to let poor weather ruin her big day.  She’s probably the most smiley bride I have ever photographed.  I don’t think anyone will ever forget your special day.

Disorganised Men

Yes, talking about you ‘father of the bride’.  Last one to be ready on the morning of the wedding… tut, tut, tut!  And you needed more help than the bride and bridesmaids put together.

Attentive Bridesmaids

Such lovely bridesmaids.  Fantastic to work with and up for a good time.  But most of all, supportive and helpful to the bride.  Top marks girls.

Misbehaving Grandparents

I don’t think I have ever photographed a wedding whereby the grandparents were so lively and actually a little bit mischievious..!  Still dancing the night away as I left at around 9pm!

Don’t Drop The Bride!

Great idea guys, to pick up the bride and lift her into the air (after a few beers).  However, You nearly gave me a heart attack.

BEE Happy Mr and Mrs Robinson… xxx

Moments… Wedding Photography by Lesley Bee

I feel it is really important to capture those ‘moments’ whilst photographing a wedding day.  There are certain moments during every wedding day that seem to stick with me especially when I have captured it in an image.  This is an example of one of those special moments…  Katy was not a great fan of being photographed and actually specifically instructed me that she did not want any formal photographs of her on her wedding day.  I love this image so much.  She looks very much like she is contemplating the day ahead of her and I love her expression, like she’s lost in her own little world.  Beautiful.

Wedding Photography Halstead House, Leicestershire

A fantastic wedding day (without an actual ceremony) with Cathryn and John on 8th December 2012.  Cat and John were actually married in London on 10/11/12…  What a fantastic and memorable date!  But they only had 2 witnesses for their civil ceremony as it was very important to them to have minimal fuss.  The 8th of December at Halstead House was a celebration with their family and friends.  So…  it was very much a wedding day, but of course, they were actually already married.    As you can see from the images below…  all the elements were there and it was just an amazing, relaxed day full of joy, laughter and tears.   Halstead House is just a beautiful  and unique wedding venue with a Georgian house surrounded by amazing Leicestershire countryside and it has 2 converted Victorian built barns in its grounds.  The surrounding gardens and countryside are just stunning.  We were lucky to have a perfect winter day, with beautiful sunshine –  but very cold!  And it was fantastic to spend time with Cat and John before their guests arrived for the celebrations.  We had great fun taking photographs, stopping for coffee and a warm up and taking advantage of the fact that we had lots of time before the guests arrived.

If you are planning your wedding day in 2013 or 2014 at Halstead House, or anywhere in Leicestershire, Warwickshire or Northamptonshire please do get in touch with me – Lesley Bee on 01455 233224.  I am happy to meet with you to discuss your wedding day photography requirements.

Please note I have very limited dates in 2013 for wedding day photography as I will be focussing on the portrait side of the business and helping Mr Bee with his business too.

The lovely Jane and Steve were married at Hothorpe Hall and I am so glad I was there to capture their beautiful wedding day.  Despite the fact that the weather was unkind to us, we still managed to grab 5 minutes outside near the front of the hall to get a few images of the ‘just married’  Mr and Mrs.  This was a small, intimate wedding with just family and a few close friends and it was a really lovely day.  If you are looking for a lovely Leicestershire wedding venue with really helpful staff why not visit the Hothorpe Hall website here

Thank you Mr and Mrs Freer, for making me so very welcome on your special day.

Wedding Photography Oakham Castle

I recently photographed the wedding of the lovely Cat and Nick at Oakham Castle in Rutland, followed by a fantastic wedding reception at the Fox and Hounds in Exton.

It was a really beautiful wedding with so many lovely touches.  Cat is originally from Australia so there were lots of family who had made a very special journey to the UK to celebrate with the newly weds.  Highlights included speeches on the green in front of the Fox and Hounds and some fab music by Pennyless.  All in all, a beautiful day with lots of laughter and a really relaxed, beautiful day.

BEE Happy Mr and Mrs Renshaw. xx
