Family Portrait Photography in Hinckley, Leicestershire

Here at my lovely bright and airy portrait studios in the Atkins Building in Hinckley, Leicestershire I offer relaxed and informal family portrait photography for families of all sizes. My studio is spacious enough to accommodate larger groups and is easily accessible. It’s located in the centre of Hinckley with parking just across the road and disabled access if needed.

Whether you are booking a portrait session for a couple, for the children or even for a large extended family group you can be guaranteed a warm welcome, a relaxed and fun session and a professional and friendly service at every stage of the process. I offer a personal service which starts with an initial consultation where we can discuss your expectations for the photoshoot, we can chat about any ideas or inspiration you might have for your family portrait session or you can leave that part in my capable hands if you prefer! I’m endlessly patient, especially with little ones, and your session won’t be over until I have captured a great selection of beautiful images.

Weekday family portrait sessions are available up to 7pm and the session fee is just £45. You can also book a weekend family photoshoot at a session fee of £60. All sessions include a complimentary 10×8” print.

Your session fee includes my time and talent on the day and in editing the best images afterwards. You will be invited back to the studio to view your images and choose your favourites, you will be able to view sample products and I will take time to help you choose the best way to display your images.

If you would like to have a chat about booking your own family studio portrait session or wish to request a full price list please call Lesley on 01455 233224 or fill in the form on the Contact Page.

Leicester Portrait Photographer

Are you looking for a Leicester Portrait Photographer?  Is it important that you feel relaxed and at ease during what can be an intimidating experience?  I have 9 years experience of photographing lots and lots of families at my studio here at the Atkins Building, here in Hinckley, Leicestershire.  Both my studio and office are located here at this amazing converted hosiery factory.  The space is light, airy and contemporary.  There is a lovely coffee shop here at the Atkins building, and it’s just 2 minutes walk into the town centre of Hinckley, should you wish to do some shopping either before or after your photo shoot.   I have photographed many, many families both large and small and some have even brought their dogs along to the photo shoot session.  So whether you require photography of your children, or photography of multiple generations of your family, your dog, your newborn  baby or you and your grandparents, please contact me today to discuss your portrait photography.

I take pride in offering a very relaxed, stress free photo shoot so that you enjoy being photographed and feel completely at ease in front of the camera.  I understand that sometimes small children may not co-operate and can take a little time to ‘play ball’…  So, it is important that your photography session is not rushed and that patience and understanding is paramount.  I am a ‘people person’ and nothing gives me greater pleasure than knowing that you and your children have had a fun time in the studio.

You are most welcome to call me to discuss your portrait photography requirements.  I can advise you on clothing, how long your session will take and the processes involved once you have been photographed.

Family Photography Leicestershire

Are you thinking about booking a portrait photographer?  Do want natural, very relaxed, fun photographs of you and your family?  If this is the case, I could be the lady for you?  I very much love to photograph families on location.  I find that children have far more fun being photographed outdoors where they can run free.  Studio photography is sometimes a little restrictive, especially if your children are a little lively.    Often parents can become a little tense if their children are not playing ball during a studio session.  However, allowing your children the space and freedom to run around whilst I photograph them, will inevitably lead to photographs similar to these examples shown here.  And just as important – you will enjoy the photo shoot and not get stressed or unhappy if your children don’t play by the rules in a studio environment.

I often run 45 minute ‘mini’ sessions at Burbage Common in Leicestershire.  However if you would like to book a ‘one off’ photography session, I can meet you at your favourite park, woods, or even come and photograph you in your garden at home.

Please call me on 01455 233224 to discuss a photography session and I will chat to you about locations, what to wear etc.

Photography should not be tense and unexciting, it should be fun, relaxed and a pleasant experience for everyone.  Call me – Lesley Bee today on 01455 233224.

Family Photography Leicester

If you are looking to book a photography session for you and your family, and you would prefer an outdoor photo shoot so that your children can run about and have fun, I could just be the lady for you!  I love photographing families on location and I understand that a studio photography shoot can be a bit daunting, especially if you have young children.  A formal studio with lighting can be a bit scary for small children, and even if they are not troubled being in unfamiliar surroundings, chances are they will become distracted and their attention span will be very limited.  However, a photography session at their favourite park, your garden or a special and familiar place is guaranteed to be more fun, definitely more relaxed and ultimately just a little bit different.

If you wish to book a location photography family photo shoot, please call to discuss or book.  A location shoot is £95 (within a 20 mile radius of Hinckley, Leicestershire) and this fee includes a complimentary 10×8 print.   You will return for a viewing of your final images from the photo shoot around 1-2 weeks after the session, where you can select your favourite photographs from the day.  I offer various collections including prints, wall art and digital files.

Location Family Portraits Leicestershire

I firmly believe that you can photograph outdoors any time of the year.  I also firmly believe that small children prefer to run around outside and not be restricted in a small, strange studio environment, with big lights and lots of distracting equipment.  Add to this, uptight parents who want their children to be on their best behaviour and sometimes it can be a recipe for disaster.  When I receive an email or telephone enquiries about family portraits, the first question I will ask mum is the age of her children.  If they are little (under 7 years old) I will do my best to encourage her to have a location portrait photography session.  It really is a ‘no brainer’.  Whatever time of year it’s the best fun.  In fact, I would positively encourage Autumn and Winter family photography sessions.  Fresh air, wrapped up in woolly scarves and wellington boots – perfect!   Colourful, fun and carefree.  We can meet at your favourite park or woods, or if you have a big garden (lucky you), I can come to your home.  You can get extended family involved in your photography session.  Invite grandparents and cousins and let me capture those photographs that you will truly treasure forever.  A home / location visit is £95 in Leicestershire and I will spend up to 2 hours with you and your family, photographing all of you and having fun.  The session includes a 10×8 complimentary print.  A viewing session will take place at my studio a couple of weeks later for you to select your favourite photographs from the shoot.

I often run mini sessions at Burbage Common whereby I will put aside a full day and offer photography sessions for around 45 minutes, but photograph a number of different families on the day.  These are very popular with local families here in Hinckley and surrounding areas,  and I know Burbage Common inside out as I regularly walk my dog at this beautiful little spot.  The mini sessions are £40  for families (maximum 6 at the session) and this is more than enough time to get some relaxed, fun, location photographs.

If you are interested in future dates for mini sessions at Burbage Common please call me, Lesley Bee on 01455 233224 or email info@lesleybee.co.uk.  Alternatively you can complete the ‘contact me’ form on this website.  If you are keen to book me for up to 2 hours at your home or chosen location, again, please feel free to call me to discuss your ideas and inspirations.  I can advise on clothing, locations and we can talk ideas and logistics.

Please Print Your Memories

A big question to all of you out there?  Do you print your memories?  If the answer is no?  Why not?    Are your portrait or wedding photographs stored on a disc or USB device, hiding away in a drawer or cupboard somewhere?  If so, this is such a shame.  These days, unfortunately, our photographs are stored on electronic devices and we need actual electricity to view our treasured memories – we live in a digital age – fact.  Photographs are stored on mobile phones, computers, tablets  and discs / USB devices.  This makes me a little sad – and I am on a mission to encourage my clients and non clients to print out their photographs.  I make a massive effort to go through my own personal photographs, even if it’s at the end of the year.  Many of these are just family snaps taken on special occasions but I have to get them printed.  I take just a couple of hours and go through my folders of personal photographs sitting on my computer and create a simple coffee table book, or print out 6×4 prints to put in a box and store away safely.  These are for my children.  I have heard lots of horror stories about precious photographs being lost forever because they were not backed up or printed.  So very sad to lose such precious memories, never to be retrieved again.

Your photographs are not just for you,  they are for your children, and your children’s children.  Precious memories of your family get togethers, your children growing up, your family holidays, weddings, christenings, birthdays… the list goes on.  Where are all of these wonderful photographs?  In most cases they are stored digitally somewhere.  No physical  photographs to touch and hold and feel, and pass around the family.  No actual photographs to leave behind for your children and grandchildren.

I have no issues with providing digital images to any client.  I would much prefer for my wedding couples to have an actual wedding album, but we are living in a digital age and I have to move with the times.  However, what worries me is that a lot of clients only want digital files and nothing else.  And in most cases these photographs from your fabulous portrait session, or your amazing wedding day, or your family party, sit somewhere out of view on a computer or a disc / USB in a long forgotten, hidden place.  I’ve spoken to many wedding clients a year or two after their wedding day and asked if they have printed out their photographs, and often their reply is ‘no’.   Why?  The most important day of your life and no physical photographs to show for it.  Your wedding dress will be cleaned and stored away, your flowers will have wilted and died and every aspect of your day will be just a memory.  The only tangible thing you have after this day are your photographs.  Print them…   and enjoy them.

If you really, really love your photographs from your wedding day or your professional photography session, print them out – and print them out straight away.  Better still, choose one of your favourite photographs and have it professionally framed  and finished to showcase  on your wall at home and enjoy it every single day.  Even if you are not  a big fan of large photographs on your wall (believe it or not – I don’t have any really large prints of me or my family on my walls at home),  you could always print out smaller sized desk prints to have on display on  your favourite cabinet or shelf at home for you and your family to enjoy and see, every single day.  Or have one or two on your desk  whilst you get through the daily grind of your 9-5  job.

It’s so simple and easy these days to upload your photographs to a printing company, and order your photographs.   It takes minutes, if not seconds.  And within a few days you will have hard copies of your photographs to enjoy and pass on to future generations.  I feel very sad sometimes when wedding clients only want to have digital files of their wedding day.  Wedding albums are so important and your wedding album will be a future heirloom to be enjoyed for years and years to come, probably many, many years after you have departed from this earth.    With this in mind I have launched a montage print purposely designed for wedding day clients.  I understand that it must be so difficult to choose your favourite photographs from your wedding day to display on your wall at home.  Especially if you have hundreds of images to choose from.  I can design you a fabulous montage telling a story of your wedding day or family celebration that you will enjoy for years to come.  Take a look at this montage and if you are a past or present client, let me do the hard work for you.  Let me tell a story of your wedding day or your family celebration or get together.  I was there… I was part of your day.  You can then collect your finished piece of wall art, ready to hang on your wall and enjoy it every single day.

Print out your photographs… xxx

Family Photography

I’ve been photographing a lot of families at the studio just recently.  I have made the decision to take on less wedding photography jobs in 2014 and focus more on photographing in my studio and on location.  I really enjoy family photography sessions and have been working on a marketing plan to focus more on this area.  I am offering photography sessions either in my studio, or if you prefer, at your home or chosen location.  I really want to free up more weekends too.  So I am offering incentives for photography sessions in the week. The standard photography session price for a weekend shoot is £45 in the studio.  This fee includes a 10×8 print.  However if you can be flexible and can be photographed during the week, you will receive a £10 discount on this photography fee.  A week day studio photography session with your family, your dog, your friends etc is £35 and I can photograph you up to 7pm in the evenings.  You will also receive a 10% discount on your order at your ordering session.

If you are looking to have your family photography on location, either at your home or a favourite place such as the local park etc, a weekend session is £95 including a 10×8 print.  Again, if you can be photographed during the week, you will save money.   A week day photography session at your home or on location is £75 including a 10×8 print.  Again, you will receive a 10% discount at your ordering session.

So, if you have been thinking for a while about having your baby photographed, or you would like to get the family together for a fun, photography shoot please contact me on 01455 233224.  Or you can complete the contact form on this website.  If your dog is very much a part of your family, then bring your four legged friend along.  I absolutely adore dogs and have photographed many over the years.  If you are at home during the week and have a new baby or pre school children, you can also take advantage of the week day photography offer.

This portrait was taken of the beautiful Abbey during a photography session with her brother and sister.  We had some fun on the studio photography session.  And we also had a bit of time to capture a few timeless, classic portraits of the children.  Abbey is truly beautiful and was a pleasure to photograph.

Family Photography Leicestershire

It’s Spring!  Yes… I am now finally out of hibernation.  So I am very much looking forward to Summer and photographing families out on location, in the fresh air – fingers crossed for an amazing Summer this year.  Would you prefer to have your family photographed at your home or favourite place, rather than in a studio environment?  Location photography is great for more relaxed, story telling photographs and it’s especially  perfect for small children to be photographed at home or at their favourite park or play area.    Sometimes the restrictions of a studio space are not ideal for young children and they can become bored and restless quite quickly in the studio.  A location portrait shoot enables the children to run around outside, have fun with no restrictions, whilst I chase them around, photographing them doing fun their stuff and capturing their personalities.  Location portraits are much more relaxed and I find that I often capture the character of children when they are outside.  These are just  a few images of children photographed on location, and they are also photo sessions that I remember were lots of fun for the children and just as important,  stress free for mum and dad.

I have scheduled a location photography session day on Saturday 3rd May at Burbage Common, Hinckley and have just a couple of photography slots left.   This is a mini session which will last around 30 minutes, and the fee is £40 including a 10×8 mounted print.  If you would like to book a photo shoot for this day, please call me on 01455 233224.  If you prefer, you can book me to attend your family celebration or get together at your home to capture photographs of all of your extended family and friends.  You may be planning a garden party with your family and friends and wish to capture some lasting memories with your closest family and friends.  A visit at home is £95 and this is for around 90 minutes of photography, including a 10×8 print.   You are very welcome to call me to discuss this option and arrange for a photography shoot at your home… Simple, fun and hassle free…  What are you waiting for?  Contact me via this website or email me at info@lesleybee.co.uk.

Portrait Photography Leicestershire

Nothing gives me greater pleasure than seeing my couples again whose weddings I have photographed. To capture one of the most amazing days of their lives is a real honour. It’s also so lovely when the couples come back to me with their babies for a portrait photography session. I like to think of my wedding day couples as ‘lifetime clients’ and I have photographed many weddings whereby couples have returned with their new babies or extended families for a portrait shoot. Fills me with great pride!

Christmas Portrait Photography

I have had a lot of super cute babies and toddlers to photograph recently and it has been a real pleasure photograph them all.  It’s such an exciting time of year and the little ones have that mischievous look in their eyes!  My last weekend of portrait sessions is this weekend.  Unfortunately, there are no sessions available now until the new year, unless you can do a week day photo shoot (w/c8th December only).  Alternatively, you may wish to purchase a gift voucher for someone special this Christmas.  Call 01455 233224 or email:  info@lesleybee.co.uk.

Photographing my own family

I have to remind myself often that I should photograph my own family from time to time.  I HATE having my photograph taken, and I spend my days, weeks, months and years trying to convince people that it can be fun to have your photograph taken.  Yeah right!  I am mortified when someone asks to take a picture of me.   And believe me, it often takes about 30 shots before I can hand pick one that I like.  My teenage daughters are not so keen to be photographed these days either…  Often they will delete out the images they don’t like straight away and much prefer to take their own photographs using Instagram on their mobile phones,  and can happily edit up a shot in less than 30 seconds that they fire up on to Facebook to share with family and friends.  Long gone are the days when I could take my two little girls out for a walk and they would pose happily for me to photograph them and capture their beauty and personalities… 🙁

My 13 year old daughter let me take some shots of her earlier in the year, however she was very much in control and in fact, I think she was in control of the editing too.  Teenagers!  What happened to my two little girls?

Location Family Portraits

I haven’t done very well in terms of updating my blog every day as promised to myself over 2 weeks ago.  I just don’t seem to be able to grab that half an hour and focus on the task very well.  But here goes… Just a quick upload of some images using natural light, on location, with some extra cute little ones.  I am a big fan of location photography.  It’s far less restrictive than a studio environment, and you really can get out in any weather for a photo shoot.  I love to see children running around in the fresh air and even in Autumn and Winter, as long as they are wrapped up warm then there’s lots of fun to be had.   Wellington boots, wooly scarves and hats all make location images more fun.  I am very happy to let your little ones run around,  and I love nothing more than chasing after them and capturing them at their most relaxed.  The studio does not allow for this and it’s difficult to get an energetic, curious 2 year old to sit still in a small studio space.  So – my advice?  If you have little children, location is perfect for you.. Simple 🙂

Portait Photography at Home – Leicestershire

Would you prefer a photo shoot in the comfort of your own home?  I have visited many families at home for a photography session and sometimes this is more suitable for little children who perhaps would not be comfortable in a studio environment.  This is a few images of a recent photo shoot with two beautiful little girls.  Natural window light is perfect for portraits at home.   A home visit is £80 and includes a complimentary 10×8 print from your photo shoot.

Portrait Photography Leicester

Believe me, portrait shoots don’t always go to plan.  In this game you definitely need the following skills:-

– people management

– empathy

– understanding

– a sense of humour

– patience

I will absolutely guarantee that your photo shoot will be stress free and as relaxed as possible.  This little one just wanted to be with mummy.  He arrived for his session with the biggest smile on his face, but when we began to take some photographs and mummy put him down, things went just a little downhill.  This is where my empathy, patience and understanding comes into play.  How do we work around this?    Simple!  Photograph him with his mummy.  Have lots of understanding.  Work around his needs.  Ensure mummy doesn’t get stressed – very important.

We always get there in the end…

Portrait Photography Leicestershire

I am so lucky to have a studio space at the Atkins Building in Hinckley.    The building is a converted former Hosiery factory  and a grade II listed and was completely renovated almost 3 years ago.  I was one of the very first tenants in the building and I have loved every minute of working here.  The style of the architecture sits very well with my portrait photography especially when I can get outside and use the old brick walls, steps etc to compliment my studio shots.   The weather is improving now (it’s been a very long Winter) – so it really is nice to get outside for a few shots with clients.   Olivia below loved being photographed and these shots were taken at the front of the building at the very end of her photo shoot with mum and dad.  Little 2 year old Jack was like a ‘gust of wind’ so it very much suited him, his parents and me, to let him go outside for a little while and burn off some energy before we took him back inside for some photography using studio lighting.   Jack’s photographs were taken on the back steps of the building and he was a happy little boy just loving having a little run about.

If you would like some portraits that are just a little bit different in terms of having a photo shoot that involves some studio shots and some outside images too, please call me – Lesley Bee on 01455 233224.  A studio photography session is £35 including a 10×8 complimentary print.  If you are flexible and can come along for a week day shoot (early evening appointments are available) you will receive a 10% discount at your ordering session.

Studio Portraits Leicester

I’ve been really busy with studio portraits just recently and have had so many lovely clients come to me for photography.   I have had a lot of extended families to photograph and one particular family of 14 came for a photo shoot recently during a visit to Leicester.  This family all live in London and were visiting friends and family to celebrate grandma’s 80th Birthday (I had to call her ‘Ba’ – which I am presuming is Indian for grandma or nanny, unless they were having a joke on me…).

We really did have lots of fun during this session.  It was noisy, chaotic and a bit bonkers at times, but the family were so full of joy and I just love the colours in these photographs.  They had a mixture of images taken both in traditional and casual dress.   I must admit, I had to have a lie down for a few minutes when they left, but it will be a family I will remember for a very long time.  Joyful…
