Would you rather have photography at home?
Is the thought of a photo shoot at a studio more stress than you can deal with? Are you too busy to herd up the whole family and ask them to be on their best behaviour for a couple of hours, in a strange place with a strange lady with a big camera? If you have small children you may be concerned that they might be a little confused about a photoshoot, especially if they are also very energetic and might not behave in a strange and confined space. Or is it simply that you want a more personal feel to your photographs?
Is it the Personal Feel You’re After?
Do you want your photographs to be more personal and meaningful to you because they we’re taken in your home? You can chat to me any time about a family photo shoot at your home, or you may prefer to be photographed at a favourite location that means something to you and your family. I am sometimes asked along to family celebrations at home because this is often the only time extended families get together and so it’s the perfect opportunity to have some professional photographs taken. If you are planning a big family get together for a special birthday, anniversary, christening or just because you feel it’s time to have the whole family come together I strongly advise that you capture this special time in photographs.
This family on these photographs live on a lovely little farm in Leicestershire and their photo shoot was great fun. very personal to them and they are delighted with their photographs. The children were very energetic and ran around at 100 miles an hour around their fields and home and took great delight in showing me their new baby cows, the areas where they like to play and the tractors, trees and hay bales they love to climb. Of course I was equally delighted to have an abundance of lovely areas to photograph the family. We started with a few family photographs in the kitchen whilst they were still interested in the whole photo shoot scenario. As soon as they started to lose interest (within about 15 minutes) we continued with photographs outside in the fresh air and they got to burn off some energy, doing what they do most days.
I treated this photo shoot like a little adventure, to a certain extent allowing the children to take control, show me around their home and working around their ’50 miles an hour’ energy. There was absolutely no point in asking these children to remain still. I would have been fighting a losing battle from the minute I arrived.
Note: Dad was super busy on his farm and was with us for around 20 minutes for a few family portraits in and around the farm, then he was off doing his ‘dad stuff’. I think he was happy not to hang around for the whole time we were on our adventure.

Mother’s Day 2018 is particularly early this year. I know this because it’s usually the week after my birthday on 23rd March. So I always feel extra spoilt at this time of year, with a birthday followed by Mother’s Day. Have you planned your gift for your lovely mum yet this Mother’s Day yet? What do you think she would love for her Mother’s Day gift this year? Flowers and chocolate are quite often the ‘go to’ gift of choice or maybe her favourite perfume or a meal out.
But have you ever thought about perhaps giving your special mum the gift of ‘memories’. How often do you all get together as a family? If you’re anything like my family it’s very rare these days that my husband, myself and my two grown up girls with very busy social lives actually get together. It’s rare that we even manage to sit down and eat together at the same time! And I know this is the case for many families in the 21st century.
So you can buy mum that bottle of perfume that will soon be empty, or those beautiful flowers which will last a week or two if you’re lucky, or that expensive chocolate (which secretly you know you will eat too). But you could also arrange something that will get you all together as a family in the form of a ‘win win’ gift. Mum gets you all in a room at the same time and as a result of this family get together she will have some beautiful family portraits that she will adore absolutely FOREVER! I have had many families at my studio for celebration photo shoots such as special birthdays, anniversaries etc and I love to see families coming together at my studio. Always gives me a fuzzy, warm feeling.
Mum’s are so precious, so loved and always there for you during the good times or the bad and often we take our mums for granted on a regular basis. But it doesn’t matter how many friends you have, when times are really tough we are more likely to turn to mum than anybody else. Mother’s Day is the one day in a year that you can really show mum how much you appreciate her and treat her to something nice. You are most welcome to call me on 01455 233224 to buy a gift voucher for your lovely mum or you can purchase one via this LINK
So, go on… get some extra big ‘brownie points’ this Mother’s Day and delight your wonderful mum. xx

These wonderful families above all came to my studio for family photo shoot and we had a lovely time creating these images for them. I especially adore the photograph above (bottom right) which was 4 generations. Jane (on the right of the photograph) had contacted me as her mum and grandma were coming to visit from Newcastle and she wanted a 4 generation photograph during their visit. Jane had a very clear vision of the style of photograph she wanted and this included a photograph of the hands of all of the family members. If you have grandparents, please don’t forget them and photograph them regularly… We had to work around grandma needing to sit down during this session as she is no longer strong on her legs, but we definitely had a lovely time taking these photographs.

Pet portraits are definitely one of my favourite photography sessions. Pets are part of our families and we adore our four legged friends, so why wouldn’t you want to include your pet in your photo shoot?
If I could only choose just one genre of photography I would definitely have to say it would be pet portraits, especially dogs. I have two Cockapoo dogs and absolutely adore them. My two daughters are all grown up now so I have to say my 2 dogs are definitely like my children now… Which reminds me, I really must get them into my studio and take some up to date photographs of them. I really love to photograph families small and large and i am often asked if dogs are allowed to come along to the session. And of course my answer is always yes! This gorgeous pup came along with her family for a photo shoot. We took lots of photographs of the whole family with and without their gorgeous dog Bella. We also took a few images of Bella at the end of the photo shoot – her very own pet portrait photoshoot at the end of the session. She was as good as gold and still only a puppy. I have to say I was smitten. This was the photograph that Bella’s family chose at their ordering session and I am sure they will adore this photograph forever.
If you would like to book in a family portrait session and bring along your pet dog, please just call 01455 233224 and let me know you would also like to bring along your dog. We can chat about your photo shoot whether this is at my studio in Hinckley, Leicestershire or perhaps you would prefer a photo shoot on location at your home or favourite place. Whatever you decide for your photo shoot please be prepared for lots of fuss and cuddles from me… I really can’t help it. You may prefer to book a photo shoot just for your dog and you can see my gallery of dog photographs HERE. You can view prices for pet portraits at my studio HERE

Baby photography Leicester.
You may be considering baby photography when your newborn baby arrives. It’s such a truly precious time so don’t miss out. You can book your baby photography session as early as scan stage. Expectant mummies often call me to discuss their newborn photo shoot at this stage. We can book in your photography session around 10-14 days after your due date and when your new baby arrives we can catch up again and confirm your photo shoot. My studio is located in Hinckley Leicestershire, very close to Hinckley town centre. There is a public car park right opposite the building and lift access if you wish to bring your pushchair to the session.
Newborn baby photography photo shoots cannot be rushed and an average session takes a minimum of 2-3 hours. It is important not to rush your photo shoot as I want your baby to be content and of course it’s equally important that parents enjoy the baby photography session too. Often babies need cuddling, feeding and nappy changing during the photo shoot and this is why I always allow lots of time for these photo shoots. Parents can enjoy a cuppa and take a breather whilst I photograph and if extra cuddles are required we can take a break. You can view my baby photography gallery HERE
I have lots of beautiful props in the studio including wraps, outfits, hats, blankets etc. I do try to photograph as naturally as possible and with minimal posing. If your newborn baby doesn’t settle easily then this is where parents are more involved in the photo shoot. Older siblings are welcome to attend your photo shoot, please just mention this when booking your session. If they are very young it’s always best that little ones come along to the photo shoot for just a small period of time and it may be a good idea for one of the parents to take them off for a walk if they are unsettled during the photography session.
The newborn photography photo shoot is £85 for the time and talent to photograph your baby. This session fee includes a complimentary 10×8 print with any order placed at your ordering session. When the photo shoot is complete and I am happy that I have captured beautiful images of your baby we can schedule in a mutually convenient date and time to get together for you to see your final images.
If you would like to see my prices please call me and I am happy to discuss this with you or you can navigate to the information under the newborn section of this website.
I have beautiful, hand made gift vouchers available from £150 and these are also perfect for gifts from family and friends organising the baby shower.
