Hinckley Carnival Queen Competion – 2010

I very much enjoyed attending the Hinckley Carnival Queen Competion at Hinckley United last night and grabbing a few photographs whilst enjoying the evening with my hubby.  In previous years the competition has been held at local night clubs, but this year Kev Whelan from Bar Vis-A-Vis, Hinckley (check out their facebook page here) decided to pull out all the stops to make it a more glamorous occasion –  a black tie dinner, catwalk show and of course live music.  It really was a great evening with lots of local businesses taking tables for the evening.  The event raised almost £3,000 for the Cystic Fibrosis trust and Hinckley Carnival fund.  The Carnival takes place on Sunday 6th June.  For more information check out the website.

The event was sponsored by The Holiday Lounge Hinckley, who donated a weeks holiday to Cyprus for both the Carnival Queen and as a main prize for the Raffle.  The new Carnival Queen for 2010 pictured below will also have a photo shoot with Artography worth over £200.00.  Flowers were kindly donated by Yana at Tulips Creative Flower Shop Regent Street, Hinckley.

Here are a just a few of my favourite images from the evening.

Canape Evening at The City Rooms Leicester

Last night I popped along to the canape evening at the City Room in Leicester to join in the celebrations for the refurbishment of their entrance hallway.  They have done some amazing work throughout the banqueting venue  / boutique hotel.  It really is a stunning, sophisticated venue for a City Centre wedding.   Unfortunately I had organised a babysitter for the wrong night so could only pop in for a few minutes.  Canapes and cocktails… and I had to get home!!

If you have not chosen somewhere for your wedding day yet, you really should check out The City Rooms .    A grade 1 listed building, built  in 1792 and beautifully restored and re-opened in 2006.  The main ballroom is so breathtaking.   And, because it is  a completely independent, family run business, I think it  makes this venue even more unique.

You really can’t go wrong  having the Events Manager Vicky and her team helping you organise your special day.   I regularly exhibit at their wedding fayre and the next one is taking place on Sunday 17th October 2010.  There are other great wedding suppliers at the fayre including  Belle Fleur who create the most amazing flowers and wedding cakes and regularly work with The City Rooms.  Another supplier who I would recommend is Make Up By Mia   Mia is often at the Wedding Fayre too and and she specialises in bridal, fashion and photographic make-up.

Party Photo Shoots by Lesley Bee at Artography

Party photo shoots are one of my most favourite photography sessions.  Energetic and fun…  How can you possibly go wrong with a group of children who just want to be photographed?   This group of girls came to the studio recently and I had a great time photographing  each and every one of them.    They had lots of ideas for poses during the shoot.  If you are looking for something different to do for your child’s birthday party please give me a call.  Packages start at £125.00 for up to 8 in a group.  This package  includes the shoot, a group photograph for all that attend, a larger print and a poster for the party host and a viewing for all the guests and parents to come back and see the final set of images.  My contact details are 01455 233224.  You can view more party images at www.portraitsbyartography.co.uk.  Another 2 party photo shoots next week!  I think I will have a lie down until then… charlotte 1charlotte 3charlotte 2

Little Mimi – Sunshine & Flowers

Look at this little dolly!  We had a perfect Summers day to photograph little Mimi and her mummy in the park.  Long lens, kept my distance and enjoyed catching some really lovely moments.  I did manage to resist putting her in my camera bag and taking her home with me.  I really do enjoy lifestyle shoots and using my zoom lens to capture these shots was the perfect tool.  Mimi and mummy could relax and enjoy their visit to the park without having me too close.  If you would like to have your children photographed, being children… call me on 01455 233224.  You can view more of my portrait work at www.portraitsbyartography.co.uk or my wedding images at www.weddingsbyartography.co.uk. z composite 2z composite 3z composite 4z composite 1

Shelley & Lee, St Edith’s Church Monks Kirby and Ansty Hall Warwickshire

Another fun, emotional and romantic wedding.  I really do love my job!   I recently photographed Shelley & Lee at St Edith’s church in Monks Kirby.   Unfortunately I was not allowed to take any photographs in the church during the ceremony but I had a lot of time with the couple at Ansty Hall.  Thankfully the weather was also very kind to us too.   I had taken some photographs of Shelley and Lee at Antsy Hall for their pre wedding shoot and Lee is very, very fond of having his photograph taken- very unusual for a guy to be so relaxed in front of the camera.  In fact, Lee would have been in every shot on his wedding day if he could.   Shelley and Lee’s family and friends made me so welcome and I had such great fun creating some of these images.  The bridesmaids Carly and Amy were also keen to be photographed as much as possible too – they worked me hard!   Mr & Mrs Nunn – best wishes to you both for a long and happy marriage together.  It was very obvious you are ‘soul mates’.  shelley lee wed2shelley lee wed3shelley lee wed4shelley lee wed5shelley lee wed1

When Kind Words Really Make My Day…

I received an email from Trudy and Martyn today with a testimonial, following their wedding day photography at Coombe Abbey in April…  It really did make made my day!

“I cannot heap enough praise and admiration onto Lesley Bee of Artography.  She is the most lovely person you could wish to meet and so full of fun that she helped to make our Wedding Day very special, ending up with some fabulous photographs.  I hate having my photo taken but I don’t think that there is one photograph of me that Lesley has taken that I do not like.

She has an informal approach so after our ‘traditional’ poses we just ‘let her loose’ with the camera.  We were not disappointed. She is a superb photographer.  We would certainly recommend her to anyone wanting photographs of any kind taking.  We will definitely use her again whenever we need some ‘official’ photos taking of our family”

 Many Thanks

Trudy & Martyn Statham

Geoff Waters at ‘The Best of Hinckley’

The lovely Geoff  Waters from ‘The Best of Hinckley’ came over to the studio for some head shots to use on his website, blog, twitter etc.  I have had a listing with ‘The Best of Hinckley’ for a number of years now and Geoff is a real ‘champion’ of local businesses in the area.  It is through Geoff that I have had a number of clients book for photo shoots and also became involved in the ‘Hinckly Business Awards’ in 2009, photographing  the finalists  and the actual event at The Sketchley Grange Hotel in Burbage.

I really do value the link that Artography has with this fantastic website ‘The Best of Hinckley’.    Not only does Geoff actively promote businesses through ‘The Best of Hinckley’ website, he also works hard raising the profile of these  small, local businesses via his Twitter pages, Facebook and various networking meetings he attends in the Leicestershire area.   I am a big fan of Geoff and would recommend him to anyonelooking for ways to promote their business.

Many business professionals and businesses use headshots for their annual reports, advertising, company publications or websites, press releases etc.   Head shots are really important in the business world  and a lot of corporate employers are now asking their potential employees to provide a headshot when applying for a job.

The photo shoot took approx. 10-15 minutes and there are around 10-12 final images for Geoff to choose from for his business.

If you are looking for headshots for your business please contact  Lesley Bee at Artography on 01455 233224.
